Lumin Digital, the Compounding Growth Platform for banks and credit unions, today announced an open banking integration with MX Technologies, Inc., giving financial institutions on the Lumin platform a standards-based way to connect users with third-party financial applications.

The integration enables financial institutions on Lumin’s platform to allow retail and business users to safely connect their bank accounts to supported third-party financial apps without sharing their usernames and passwords. Built on modern APIs and OAuth 2.0 authentication, it also gives users greater visibility and control over how their financial information is accessed and shared.

“The future of financial data sharing will be defined by secure APIs, consumer control, and greater interoperability,” said Sean Weadock, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Lumin Digital. “Our integration with MX strengthens Lumin’s ability to help financial institutions navigate that shift with an architecture designed to evolve alongside industry standards and regulatory expectations.”

“Open banking succeeds when people are in control of their financial data,” said Jane Barratt, Chief Advocacy Officer and Head of Global Public Policy at MX. “By working with Lumin, we’re making it easier for financial institutions to deliver secure, consumer-permissioned connectivity that gives people greater transparency into how their data is shared and the confidence to connect with the financial tools they choose.”

The MX integration is designed to help financial institutions on the Lumin platform deliver:

  • Greater Transparency and Control: Users can clearly see where their financial data is shared and revoke access for individual third-party applications when they choose.

  • Reliable, Real-Time Connectivity: Direct API connections are designed to improve reliability and support near real-time access to connected financial experiences, reducing reliance on screen scraping.

  • Seamless Digital Experiences: Persistent supported connections reduce unnecessary reauthentication and create a smoother user experience.

The MX integration is supported through Lumin FDX, Lumin’s approach to secure, standards-based financial data sharing. Built on specifications established by the Financial Data Exchange, Lumin FDX supports multiple aggregation providers through a common framework, allowing financial institutions to connect consumers and businesses with a broader range of financial applications. It also gives users greater visibility into which applications can access their financial information and the ability to manage that access.

By enabling consumer-permissioned data sharing through APIs, Lumin FDX supports the industry’s continued move away from screen scraping and toward connectivity that is more reliable and more transparent for consumers. It gives Lumin clients a scalable foundation for connected financial experiences while helping them adapt as open banking standards and regulatory expectations continue to evolve.

The MX integration is rolling out to financial institutions on the Lumin platform. Additional aggregator integrations will be available in the coming months.
