Benchmark Gensuite Becomes First EHS Platform to Align Incident Management with ASTM E2920-26 Standard

CINCINNATI, Sept. 8, 2026
New capabilities help safety teams improve serious injury or fatality identification and severity classification within existing incident workflows
CINCINNATI, Sept. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Benchmark Gensuite today announced that its ASTM E2920-26 capabilities are now live within its Incident Management platform, making Benchmark Gensuite the first EHS software provider to align its Incident Management platform to ASTM E2920-26, the updated standard for serious injury and fatality (SIF) prevention championed by the National Safety Council (NSC).
The first-to-market enhancement strengthens how organizations understand and act on incident data, enabling tighter alignment to a trusted framework for experienced ASTM users and a clear path toward greater consistency for teams looking to evolve their approach to serious risk identification.
“Ninety percent of incidents, hazards, and near misses go unreported. It’s largely due to a lack of structure around how severity is understood and communicated,” said R. Mukund, CEO, Benchmark Gensuite. “ASTM E2920-26 provides the insight needed to spot and learn from events with SIF potential. By integrating its framework into our Incident Management platform, customers can prevent more serious injuries than ever before.”
Developed in collaboration with a subscriber workgroup that included Colgate, Applied Materials, and Perrigo, Benchmark Gensuite’s alignment with the methodology is accessible, practical, and seamlessly integrated into everyday incident workflows.
Key enhancements include:
- ASTM-aligned injury and illness classification, including Level 1 and Level 2 severity classification logic based on updated ASTM E2920-26 definitions.
- A dedicated ASTM Card within existing Injury & Illness workflows to centralize ASTM-specific information and severity evaluation.
- Guided work-relationship evaluation using dynamic logic based on ASTM’s Connection, Contribution, and Context tests.
- Additional severity indicators, including whether CPR was performed, an AED shock was delivered, or the employee experienced life-threatening blood loss, to support Level 1 classification.
- Built-in reporting and analytics, including ASTM Data Mining filters, packaged reports, dashboards, and ASTM rate calculations to support analysis of severity trends across the organization.
“Without a consistent, reliable way to identify which incidents carry the highest risk, SIF management is reactive,” said Porter. “Our leading subscribers are most interested in going beyond the injuries that resulted in visible harm for true proactive mitigation, and ASTM E2920-26 gives organizations the framework to do so. Benchmark Gensuite is enabling businesses to operationalize this standard by building it directly into the tools safety teams already use for a better path forward.”
The ASTM E2920-26 advanced Incident Management feature is available now as an opt-in capability for new and existing subscribers. Learn more by visiting Benchmark Gensuite’s dedicated ASTM webpage at benchmarkgensuite.com.
The NSC championed ASTM E2920-26 as part of a broader push to make SIF prevention a critical component in how organizations create safer workplaces. Benchmark Gensuite will be showcasing its new ASTM capability during NSC’s upcoming Safety Congress & Expo, September 14-16, at booth number 1669.
